Columbus Reaches $5.75 Million Settlement Agreement With Protesters

The city of Columbus is paying the injured participants of protests that happened in their city last year in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd and countless others $5.75 million in a settlement.

According to reporting by the AP, "The payouts will vary based on the extent of protesters’ individual injuries...The settlement...mandates that peaceful protestors on city streets and sidewalks cannot be subjected to uses of force, arrests, or dispersal orders except in extraordinary circumstances." In addition, the settlement provides protections for street medics, journalists, and legal observers.
